Tuesday 26 May 2020, 4.00-5.00pm
The aim of this webinar is to support physics teachers with assessment in 2020 that has been impacted by the COVID-19 restrictions. NZIP is hosting the webinar with a panel from NZQA and the MOE, to present the support options available and answer any questions.
(You may have seen an ad for a similar webinar to be hosted by NZASE that will focus on ‘Science’. This webinar hosted by NZIP will focus on ‘Physics’.)
The webinar will be recorded and will be shared for those who cannot attend.
To register for the webinar please send an email to me at firstname.lastname@example.org
We will send you the invitation to the webinar closer to the time.
Webinar – Professor Shaun Hendy “How a physicist has approached Modelling Covid19”
A video of this webinar that was held on 20 May, jointly supported by NZIP and The MacDiarmid Institute, is now available on the NZIP YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Xtae3LMnbQ
Review of Achievement Standards – Provisional NCEA Level 1 Subject List
On the 25th February NZIP issued a press release stating its initial position to the announcement earlier in the year that Physics would not be a standalone subject at Level 1. This can be found at http://nzip.org.nz/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/NZIP_PressRelease_25022020.pdf
NZIP are in the process of developing a final position paper in relation to that announcement. NZIP will then consult with its membership and present a formal position on behalf of its membership to the MoE.
Notwithstanding the above we strongly encourage all members to complete the feedback requested from the MoE. You can complete the feedback via the following link:
