From the Chair of NZIPES

A Big Change

NZIP has decided to introduce a secure website system for access to our well respected examination papers and resources. This has been done because it will:

  • reduce overall costs for schools
  • improve speed of distribution of resources
  • reduce costs for NZIPES.

We have decided to charge a flat yearly fee of $100 (GST incl) for all our resources.

We do understand that some teachers only require resources at one level but we feel that even at $100 for one, level teachers are still getting great value for money. Charging one amount makes the administration of the secure site much more straightforward for our group of volunteers. For most schools the $100 fee will be an overall reduction in costs.

So what do you get for your fee:

  • Y12 and 13 2006 examination papers (due out by July but will be put online as they are written)
  • Y12 and 13 Examination papers from each of the past five years
  • 2.7 2006 assessments 2.7
  • 2004 and 2005 assessments Neat Zippy V (an enormous collection of great resources)
  • Physics Teachers Guide.

Kiwi Physics CD-ROM Resources
for Teachers and Students

Kiwi Physics has been developed by New Zealand physics teachers as a resource for students that is highly relevant and with a strong New Zealand flavour. It uses games, puzzles, videos and animation to explore topics such as waves, collisions, satellites, bungy jumping, radiocarbon dating, and electricity transmission.

Famous New Zealanders, including Marc Ellis, AJ Hackett and Irene Van Dyk, help explain scientific principles in a fun way with the help of exciting graphics and humour.

Each learning module also highlights a New Zealander who has made a career in a related field – for example, in serious car crash investigations, scientific research, electrical engineering, and even in the design of artificial reefs.

The purpose of the CD-ROM is to make physics fun, and encourage more students to continue their study in this area.

This project has been funded by the New Zealand Government, and produced by Futureintech, a careers promotion initiative run by the Institution of Professional Engineers (IPENZ).

We encourage you to try out the CD-ROM and to order, free of charge, as many copies as you wish for your students and teaching staff.
